All about me, Adam Montague

My Skills as a Web Developer
It was at a library book sale in High Wycombe, 2003, when I picked up my first HTML 4.0 guide. I knew the basics but wanted to learn more.
After mastering HTML, I was soon helping friends and reletives with getting online. It would be another three years before I would apply for my first position in the web industry.
Now, in Strict XHTML and CSS coding is my passion, and building websites that mirror-image a clients design is what I love doing. While I work predominately in these two mediums I have skills in PHP, JavaScript, MySQL and Flash.
I work on all kinds of websites, from plain HTML info-sites to full database-driven, content managed sites with integrated shopping carts. I do the lot.
My favourite tools of the trade are my primary weapons, Dreamweaver and Photoshop. I’ve tried many different programs but always end up coming back to these!
When developing CMS and E-commerce websites, I use the seemingly unlimited powers of Joomla, WordPress, CushyCMS and PrestaShop. While CushyCMS isn’t strictly a CMS package, it helps some of my less experienced customers to use the power of a regular CMS without all the additional complications.
I use PC and Mac both on a regular basis and have a high knowledge of both operating systems.
SEO is where I started my career in web development. I have an understanding of Search Engine Optimisation that allows me perhaps greater success with search results than other developers. Being found on page one in search engines, especially Google, is something everyone wants and I feel given the right information I can get them there.
I use tried-and-tested techniques that work to get websites found in Google for specific keywords and keyword phrases. “Marquee hire Dorset” and also “Private Midwives” are two that I am proud to have successfully engineered.
Adam Montague, the person.
Since 2000 I have been a keen mountain biker, practicing the sport of trials. Although this is now only a hobby, at my best I was competing at an Intermediate-to-Expert level on the Hampshire BikeTrial circuit.
I have always had a passion for photography and now mainly use my photography skills in a hobby called Urban Exploring. Urban Exploring is the discovery, exploration and documentation of abandoned buildings, bunkers and generally vacant, forgotten spaces. Such places that forge the modern world and are now sadly left to rot and decay.
I own a 1989 Golf GTI and have a passion for the classic VW scene. I attend VW festivals throughout the year and look forward to the day I enter my car into the show and shine competitions.
